Large Language Model (LLM)

A large language model (LLM) is an AI system trained on massive amounts of text data that can understand, generate, and reason about natural language. LLMs like GPT-4, Claude, and Gemini use billions of parameters to predict and produce text, enabling capabilities from writing and coding to analysis and creative tasks.

Example

When you type a question into ChatGPT, you are interacting with an LLM. The model processes your text, draws on patterns learned from its training data, and generates a relevant response word by word.
