You know the feeling. You open ChatGPT, type a quick request, and get back something... okay. Not terrible. But not the expert-level, detailed, actually-useful response you were hoping for.

The problem isn't the AI. It's the prompt.

Great prompts include role assignments, context, specific instructions, output formatting, and constraints. Writing one from scratch takes 10-15 minutes — if you know what you're doing. Most people don't.

That's why we built the AI Prompt Generator.

What Is the AI Prompt Generator?

The AI Prompt Generator is a tool that takes your plain English request and transforms it into a detailed, high-performing prompt. You describe what you need. AI handles the prompt engineering.

Here's the difference:

What you type:

"Write a blog post about remote work productivity"

What the generator creates:

Role: Experienced productivity consultant and professional writer with expertise in remote work optimization.

>

Task: Write a 1,500-word blog post about productivity strategies specifically designed for remote workers who struggle with maintaining focus and work-life boundaries.

>

Audience: Remote professionals aged 25-45 in knowledge work roles (marketing, engineering, design).

>

Tone: Professional yet conversational, empathetic without being preachy, actionable.

>

Structure: Hook with a relatable scenario → 5 evidence-based techniques with real-world examples → tool recommendations → conclusion with a prioritized action checklist.

>

Include: At least 2 statistics from recent studies, specific tool names with brief justifications, examples that feel authentic rather than hypothetical.

>

Avoid: Generic advice like "take breaks" without specifics, listicle formatting without depth, motivational fluff.

Same idea. Dramatically different output from your AI.

How It Works

Using the generator takes about 30 seconds:

Step 1: Describe What You Need

Type a simple request in plain English. Don't overthink it — that's the generator's job. Examples:

  • "Create a cold outreach email for SaaS founders"
  • "Debug a React useEffect infinite loop"
  • "Write a product description for wireless earbuds"
  • "Create a lesson plan for teaching fractions to 4th graders"

Step 2: Choose Your AI Model

Select which model you'll use the prompt with:

  • ChatGPT (GPT-4o) — Gets conversational formatting and markdown structure
  • Claude (Anthropic) — Gets XML-style organization and detailed instructions
  • Gemini (Google) — Gets structured task decomposition
  • Grok (xAI) — Gets direct, concise formatting
  • Llama (Meta) — Gets clear, explicit instruction formatting
  • Any AI Model — Gets a universal prompt that works across all models

Each model has specific formatting preferences. The generator builds prompts that match what each model responds best to.

Step 3: Get Your Prompt

Watch as AI builds your prompt in real time with streaming output. The generated prompt includes:

  • Role assignment — Tells the AI who to be (expert, consultant, teacher, etc.)
  • Task definition — Clear, specific description of what to produce
  • Context and audience — Who it's for and what background matters
  • Format and structure — How to organize the output
  • Constraints — What to avoid, word limits, specific requirements
  • Quality markers — What makes the output "good"

When to Use the Generator vs. the Template Builder

SurePrompts gives you two ways to create prompts:

| | AI Prompt Generator | Template Builder |

|---|---|---|

| Best for | Unique, one-off requests | Repeatable tasks |

| How it works | AI creates a custom prompt from your description | You fill in a pre-built template |

| Speed | ~30 seconds | ~60 seconds |

| Prompt knowledge needed | None | None |

| Cost | 2 free/month, 100 with Pro | Unlimited, free forever |

| Customization | Fully custom each time | Structured with variations |

Use the Generator when:

  • You have a unique or unusual request
  • No template covers your specific need
  • You want a complex, multi-part prompt built from scratch
  • You don't know what a good prompt looks like for your task

Use the Template Builder when:

  • You repeat similar tasks (weekly reports, code reviews, email drafts)
  • You want consistency across team members
  • You want to save and reuse prompts
  • You're working with a specific category (marketing, coding, research)

Most power users use both. Templates for recurring work. Generator for everything else.

Real Examples: Before and After

Content Writing

Input: "Write a LinkedIn post about hiring mistakes"

Generated prompt: A detailed prompt that assigns the role of an experienced hiring manager and thought leader, specifies LinkedIn-native formatting with a hook-first structure, targets founders and hiring managers as the audience, requests specific examples rather than generic advice, and includes engagement-driving elements like a question at the end.

Technical Tasks

Input: "Explain how to set up a CI/CD pipeline"

Generated prompt: A prompt that positions the AI as a senior DevOps engineer, specifies the audience as mid-level developers new to CI/CD, requests a step-by-step tutorial with GitHub Actions as the platform, includes code examples and configuration files, and covers common pitfalls with troubleshooting tips.

Business Strategy

Input: "Analyze our competitors in the project management space"

Generated prompt: A prompt that assigns the role of a competitive intelligence analyst, requests a structured framework covering feature comparison, pricing analysis, market positioning, and SWOT analysis, specifies deliverable format as a presentation-ready brief, and asks for actionable recommendations with prioritization.

Tips for Better Results

  • Be specific about the domain. "Write a marketing email" is fine. "Write a cold outreach email for B2B SaaS targeting VP-level buyers" is better. The more context you give, the more targeted the generated prompt will be.
  • Mention your audience. If you're creating content for beginners, say so. If it's for technical experts, say that. The generator adjusts the prompt's complexity and terminology accordingly.
  • State the output format. Want a listicle? A step-by-step guide? A comparison table? A one-paragraph summary? Mentioning the format helps the generator include the right structural instructions.
  • Pick the right model. Different AI models have different strengths. Claude excels at long-form analysis and careful reasoning. ChatGPT is great at conversational content and creative writing. Gemini handles multi-step tasks well. Choose the model you'll actually use.
  • Iterate. Your first generated prompt will be good. You can always tweak it — add a constraint, change the tone, or specify an additional requirement before copying it to your AI.

Pricing

The AI Prompt Generator is available on both plans:

  • Free: 2 AI prompt generations per month
  • Pro ($3.99/month): 100 AI prompt generations per month

The Template Builder remains unlimited and free on all plans. You can use templates for unlimited prompt creation and save your AI generations for when you need something truly custom.
