Grok
Grok is the family of conversational AI models built by xAI, distinguished from other major assistants by its real-time access to posts on X (formerly Twitter) and a less filtered response style. The most capable public release at time of writing is Grok 3, which introduced a reasoning feature xAI calls "Big Brain" mode and a research feature called DeepSearch that combines live X data with web sources and citations. Grok also includes xAI's Aurora image generation and a dedicated "fun mode" that produces more casual, irreverent responses than a default AI assistant would.

A social media manager asks Grok, "Check X for the top 5 most-discussed AI developments this week — for each, tell me what happened, what people are saying, and whether it actually matters." Grok pulls live posts from X, summarizes the conversation, and returns ranked takes with quotes — something ChatGPT and Claude cannot do directly because they do not have live X access.
