60 Cool and Fun ChatGPT Image Prompts to Try (2026)

60 cool ChatGPT image prompts to try: become an action figure or minifigure, make impossible photos, retro posters, kids' cards, and pet portraits.

September 9, 2026
30 min read

TL;DR

Sixty copy-paste ChatGPT image prompts for creative, shareable images, organized into eight categories: turn yourself into a character, impossible photos, surreal scenes, retro looks, design and illustration styles, seasonal cards, kids and family, and pets. Each prompt specifies the subject, a described visual style, lighting, color palette, what to avoid, and an aspect ratio, and the poster, card, and sticker prompts put exact text in the image.

A cool ChatGPT image prompt names a specific transformation, a visual style, and a lighting setup instead of the word "cool." Type "make a cool picture of me" into ChatGPT Images 2.0 and you get a glowing purple render nobody shares. Say what you become, what it is made of, and how it is lit instead. Here are 60 prompts that do that, from boxed action figures to pet movie posters.

What Makes Cool ChatGPT Image Prompts Work

"Cool" is not an instruction. The prompts that get shared do five things "make it cool" does not.

Name the transformation, not the adjective. "Turn me into a claymation puppet" or "photograph a whale in a subway car" gives ChatGPT a target. "Make it epic" gives it a purple glow.

Describe the style instead of naming a brand. ChatGPT renders a 3D animated-film look or a brick-toy minifigure without complaint, but it may decline "in the style of [studio]." Describe eye size, materials, line quality, and print artifacts instead.

Sell the trick with light and material. Impossible photos convince when the lighting stays photographic and only one rule breaks. A marble bust needs raking light and grey veins; a minifigure needs glossy plastic and visible studs.

Put the text in quotes. In-image text is now readable, so posters, invitations, and stickers work. Write the exact words inside quotes, say where they go, and keep it to a headline plus one line.

Say what to avoid, then set the ratio. "No real logos, no watermark, no extra fingers" is negative prompting doing real work. Then pick 9:16 for stories, 4:5 for feed posts, 1:1 for profile pictures and stickers.

Want a prompt built around your own idea? The AI prompt generator writes one from a sentence, and the image prompt generator is tuned for visual work. The business side (headshots, products, logos, interiors) lives in the hub, 50 ChatGPT image prompts.

60

ChatGPT image prompts across 8 categories: turn yourself into, impossible photos, surreal, retro, design styles, seasonal, kids and family, and pets

Turn Yourself Into (1–10)

Upload a clear, front-facing photo with even light, then paste a prompt. The phrase that matters is "keep my likeness"; without it, ChatGPT drifts toward a generic face. Use only photos of yourself or people who have agreed. For realistic portraits rather than transformations, see 40 ChatGPT portrait prompts.

Info

Tip

ChatGPT sometimes declines "in the style of" requests that name a living artist, an animation studio, or a toy brand, and when it does not decline, it often waters the result down. Describing the look (materials, line quality, eye size, print artifacts, era) produces the same image every time and gives you specific words to change when a result is close but not right.

Impossible Photos (11–18)

These read as real photographs of things that cannot happen. Keep the lens, light, and grain photographic, and break exactly one rule.

11. Whale in a Subway Car

string lights overhead. No text. Aspect ratio 3:2.

What you'll get: A believable market scene lit by impossible merchandise.

macro at f/4. No text. Aspect ratio 4:5.

likeness. Teal and magenta laser-grid backdrop, awkward lean on a fake

Tips for Better Creative Image Results

  • Upload a clean reference and say "keep my likeness." A front-facing, evenly lit photo gives ChatGPT the most to work with; multi-image reference inputs are supported, so add a second angle if the face drifts. If the face is still wrong after two tries, regenerate with a clearer photo. The selection brush fixes a region, not a face.
  • Break one rule per image. Two impossibilities in one frame read as a collage.
  • Keep in-image text short and quoted. A headline and one line is reliable; a paragraph is not. If one letter is wrong, brush-select just the text and ask for the correction.
  • Reuse a style anchor for sets. ChatGPT does not remember an earlier image unless you reference it in the same conversation, so paste the same style block into every prompt, or use a Thinking mode batch for up to 8 matching images.
  • Pick the ratio for where it is going. 9:16 for stories, 4:5 for feed posts, 1:1 for profile pictures and stickers, 2:3 for posters. ChatGPT accepts anything from 3:1 to 1:3.
  • Regenerate when the idea is wrong, edit when it is 90% right. Save the brush for a stray object, a background swap, or a text fix.

Generate Custom Cool Image Prompts

These 60 templates cover the transformations, impossible photos, and printable cards people actually share. Treat each one as a prompt template: replace the brackets, keep the lighting and negatives, and swap one variable at a time. The AI prompt generator writes a custom image prompt from a one-line description, the image prompt generator is tuned for visual work, and the Template Builder has visual content templates you can customize.

For a profile picture that stays recognizable, see ChatGPT profile picture prompts. To size and caption these for each platform, see AI image prompts for social media; to animate a finished still, turn an AI image into video covers the handoff. Most of these also translate to Google's editor via the best Nano Banana prompts.

Pick a transformation, describe the look instead of naming it, and put the exact text in quotes. That is the whole difference between "cool picture" and a picture worth sharing.
